Today, Bertolli follows a similar extraction process, using modern machinery instead of the traditional machinery shown in the chart, to deliver quality olive oil in every bottle.
Extraction Process
Want to know how olive oil is made?
Step 1
Olives
Olives grow on trees, after which they are harvested. Traditional olive groves usually include hundred-year-old trees. Olives are harvested using nets, tractors and other tools.
Step 2
Mill
Once they are collected, the olives are transported to a mill for processing. They are separated from the branches, leaves and debris in the first place, and washed using water. They are then crushed, thus obtaining a paste.
Step 3
Press
Solids and liquids are removed from the olive paste by using the cold pressing method. Once this process has been completed, excess water and sediments are separated from the olive oil.
